DreamCloud Mattress: Our Verdict

While many hybrid models come at a premium price-point, the DreamCloud Mattress balances quality and affordability.

During our tests, we found this model well suited to a broad range of body types and sleep positions, making it an appropriate choice for partners with different preferences. Across weight groups, back and stomach sleepers on our testing team found the mattress provided sufficient spinal support. The DreamCloud’s contouring also limited pressure buildup for the side sleepers on our team who weigh over 130 pounds.

The layered construction combines memory foam, polyfoam, springs, and plush fabric for a balanced performance that scored relatively well in all of our testing categories.

Despite its lower-than-average price tag, the DreamCloud comes with a generous 365-night return policy and limited lifetime warranty, further increasing the value.

DreamCloud Mattress: An Introduction

The DreamCloud Mattress is the brand’s flagship hybrid model and features a medium firm (6) feel and 14-inch profile. DreamCloud produces three hybrid options, all of which combine foam and individually wrapped springs. They vary slightly in their firmness levels, profiles, and composition.

Our team put the DreamCloud Mattress to the test, assessing it on pressure relief, temperature neutrality, motion isolation, edge support, and other factors that matter most to sleepers. We’ll summarize our findings and delve into how the DreamCloud Mattress performed for different sleeper types and if it’s the best mattress for you.

How We Review

The seasoned sleep experts on our team conducted hands-on lab testing of the DreamCloud Mattress. Since our testers represent a wide range of sleeping positions and body types, we were able to gather a robust set of data to analyze the model’s overall performance. This provides a broad overview that may make it easier to determine if the DreamCloud Mattress meets your mattress needs.

What’s It Like to Sleep on the DreamCloud Mattress?

The DreamCloud Mattress provides a balanced feel that combines cradling, support, and responsiveness. The mattress’ foam layers contour closely to the body, adjusting to each individual’s shape without trapping too much heat. Those sleeping with restless partners should experience fewer disturbances since the foam layers absorb most movement. Meanwhile, the coil core adds even support and notable bounce.

Thanks to its hybrid construction and mid-range firmness, the DreamCloud can accommodate the needs and preferences of most individuals, but it may not be ideal for everyone.

DreamCloud Mattress Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Gel-infused memory foam layer for close-conforming pressure relief
  • Ample airflow and materials designed for cooling enhance temperature control
  • Balanced performance accommodates most sleepers

Cons

  • Too firm for side sleepers under 130 pounds
  • Emits mild off-gassing from the manufacturing process
  • Stomach and back sleepers over 230 pounds may benefit from more support

Sleeping Positions, Body Weight, and Firmness

Our diverse group of product testers rated the DreamCloud Mattress as a 6 on our 10-point firmness scale. This makes the DreamCloud Mattress medium firm, meaning it balances pushback and plushness. While the mattress is soft enough to cushion and contour, it also limits how deeply a sleeper sinks in.

Many sleepers prefer a mattress around this firmness level, but every individual is unique. Sleeping position and body weight influence the ideal firmness level. After rigorous assessment, we found the DreamCloud Mattress well suited for side sleepers over 130 pounds and most back and stomach sleepers.

Side Sleepers

Our side-sleeping testers who weigh over 130 pounds found that the DreamCloud Mattress’ close-conforming comfort system effectively relieved pressure from their hips and shoulders while supporting their spines. Those under 130 pounds didn’t sink in deeply enough to experience much contouring. The DreamCloud Premier and the DreamCloud Premier Rest earned stronger marks from side sleepers in this weight group.

Back Sleepers

Across weight groups, back sleepers on our team enjoyed the DreamCloud Mattress. Those between 130 and 230 pounds experienced the best balance of cradling and support, noting that the mattress molded to the natural curvature of their spines without letting their hips sag.

Stomach Sleepers

The DreamCloud Mattress promoted spinal alignment for testers of all weights who sleep on their stomachs. Particularly those under 130 pounds found that the DreamCloud Mattress limited sinkage while providing enough cushioning for comfort. Our testers over 130 pounds noted mild sagging around their midsections, but they found the mattress comfortable overall.

Our Performance Ratings

Our product testers evaluated the DreamCloud Mattress based on several performance metrics, ranging from pressure relief to temperature regulation. They then assign a numerical rating based on a five-point scale in which 1 is poor and 5 is excellent.

Pressure Relief

Rating: 4/5

Our evaluations showed that the DreamCloud Mattress offers above-average pressure relief. This can be attributed to its generous comfort system, which includes a quilted cover with polyfoam, a gel-infused memory foam comfort layer, and a polyfoam transition layer. The combination simultaneously cushions the surface and redistributes the sleeper’s weight to take pressure off key areas, like the hips and shoulders.

Temperature Neutrality

Rating: 4/5

While mattresses with memory foam often retain heat, our testing showed the DreamCloud Mattress remained a relatively neutral temperature throughout the night. The cashmere blend cover is breathable and temperature regulating, and the gel-infused memory foam layer is designed to dissipate heat, making it a good choice for hot sleepers. Individually wrapped coils leave ample room for airflow, further improving heat dispersion.

Motion Isolation

Rating: 4/5

The DreamCloud Mattress effectively isolates motion, meaning sleepers rarely feel when their partner moves in bed. Multiple foam layers absorb most minor vibrations, and individually wrapped springs limit the spread of more significant movement. Our testers barely noticed when another tester moved around on the other side of the bed.

Edge Support

Rating: 3/5

The DreamCloud Mattress has thicker coils around the perimeter, resulting in moderate edge support. While the perimeter compressed under the weight of our testers, they felt this didn’t significantly restrict the usable surface area. Most testers could also sit comfortably along the edge, though those over 230 pounds felt less secure.

Durability

Rating: 3/5

Based on its construction, our product experts expect this mattress to last as long as comparable hybrid models, or about seven years. The mattress’ medium firm feel reduces the chance of lasting impressions, and the edge support minimizes sagging. We also expect the pocketed coil core to provide stable support for many years. That said, mattress life expectancy varies between owners depending on mattress usage, care, support, and other factors.

Ease of Movement

Rating: 4/5

The DreamCloud Mattress facilitates position changes due to its bounce and resilience. The 8.5-inch individually wrapped coils respond quickly to a sleeper’s movements, limiting lingering body impressions. Thanks to its medium firm feel, most sleepers also don’t sink in deeply enough to feel trapped in the bed.

Sex

Rating: 3/5

The DreamCloud Mattress’ balance of cushioning and support makes it well suited for sexual activity. The bounce of the coils facilitates movement, and the memory foam contours for added comfort. While the reinforced perimeter feels relatively secure, couples may gravitate to the center of the bed for greater stability.

Off-Gassing

Rating: 3/5

Like other models that contain synthetic foam and ship compressed, the DreamCloud Mattress may emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) until it has aired out. The VOCs do not pose known health risks. Additionally, this model uses CertiPUR-US certified foam, meaning it’s been independently tested for contents and emissions. Our testers noted a slight odor upon unboxing, though it dissipated after a few days of airing out in a well-ventilated room.

What Is the DreamCloud Mattress Made Of?

The DreamCloud Mattress features a cashmere blend cover quilted with polyfoam for cushioning. A 1-inch gel-infused memory foam comfort layer is engineered for pressure relief and cooling. Next, a polyfoam transition layer acts as a buffer to limit sinkage and prevent sleepers from feeling the support core. The core consists of 8.5 inches of pocketed coils with reinforced edges for bounce and even support. A final layer of polyfoam serves as a base for the coil system, and a lower cover is designed to prevent shifting.

How Much Does the DreamCloud Mattress Cost?

The DreamCloud Mattress’ cost is below average for a hybrid model. However, it doesn’t skimp on high-end touches, such as cashmere in the cover and gel-infused memory foam. This combination of quality and affordability makes it popular for budget shoppers.

Which DreamCloud Mattress Is Right for You?

While the DreamCloud Mattress is the flagship model, the company also produces variations that appeal to certain sleepers. Choosing the right option requires weighing your needs and preferences against the mattress’ features.

The DreamCloud Premier and DreamCloud Premier Rest are upgraded versions of the DreamCloud. Their slightly plusher designs make them better suited for side sleepers under 130 pounds. However, side sleepers on our team who weigh over 230 pounds preferred the flagship model’s extra support. It’s also worth noting that stomach-sleeping testers found the DreamCloud and the DreamCloud Premier more comfortable than the DreamCloud Premier Rest.
