Nolah Evolution Hybrid Mattress: Our Verdict
The Nolah Evolution is a luxury hybrid that is 15 inches thick. The mattress is a good fit for sleepers who like tall and responsive beds. Its quilted Euro-top adds plushness without causing deep sinkage. An organic cotton cover incorporates cooling fibers designed to draw out heat and moisture.
The 15-inch tall hybrid has thick foam comfort layers that prevent pressure points from forming. A zoned pocketed coil core reduces lumbar tension by promoting even spinal alignment.
Unlike some memory foam hybrids, the Nolah Evolution has a bouncy feel that makes changing positions easier. Sleeping closer to the edges feels stable since the perimeter is reinforced with sturdier coils. A recycled plant fiber base layer further reinforces the coils and non-skid fabric keeps the mattress firmly in place.
The mattress comes in three feels to accommodate different body types and sleep styles. Nolah reassures customers with a 120-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty.
Nolah Evolution Hybrid Mattress: An Introduction
Nolah is an online bedding company that utilizes the latest sleep technology. Its proprietary AirFoam was formulated to be a cooler alternative to memory foam.
The Nolah Evolution Hybrid is the brand’s most luxurious model and features seven distinct layers. A thick polyfoam comfort system provides cushioning, while a zoned pocketed coil core supports the spine and lower back. Cooling fibers and graphite infusions are designed to keep the mattress from trapping heat over the course of the night.
The mattress is available in three firmness levels: medium (5), medium firm (6), and firm (8). All versions have a plush Euro-top with 2 inches of pressure-relieving foam. Bonus features include reinforced edges and convenient carrying handles.
We breakdown the mattress’ materials, construction, and innovative features. We share performance ratings based on in-house testing and compare the three firmness options.
How We Review
Each mattress we review undergoes rigorous in-house testing. Our sleep experts use physical testing and sophisticated tools like pressure-mapping and heat guns to evaluate performance. Our testers come in diverse body shapes and sleep positions, so we can better understand how a mattress suits a variety of sleepers.
What’s It Like to Sleep on the Nolah Evolution Hybrid Mattress?
The Nolah Evolution combines notable contouring with sturdy support. The quilted Euro-top cushions pressure points without creating a quicksand feeling. An airy cotton cover helps keep the surface cool and dry.
Thick comfort layers alleviate pressure, while transitional polyfoam limits sagging. The pocketed coil core encourages good sleep posture by reinforcing the body’s heaviest areas. The entire mattress feels supportive since the perimeter is reinforced with sturdy coils. This is an advantage if you share a bed or sleep near the edges.
Each firmness option has a distinct feel: the plush offers deeper cradling, the luxury firm has balanced contouring, and the firm provides sturdy support. The appropriate feel for you depends on your body weight and sleep position.
Every mattress has its strengths and weaknesses. Knowing which features to prioritize can help you choose a suitable model.

Sleeping Positions, Body Weight, and Firmness
We use a 10-point scale to rate mattress firmness. The lower the number, the softer a mattress feels. Most sleepers like mattresses that are between 4 and 7, with medium firm (6) having the widest appeal.
Your body weight determines how firm a mattress feels, so each sleeper experiences the same firmness level a little differently. A sleeper under 130 pounds, for example, won’t sink as much as someone over 230 pounds.
Each sleep position also has different firmness requirements. Side sleepers usually like softer mattresses, while stomach and back sleepers need firmer support to align the spine.
The Nolah Evolution Hybrid comes in three firmness levels: Plush, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The Plush is equivalent to a medium (5) feel and is well-suited to side sleepers. The Luxury Firm rates as medium firm (6), so it’s the most versatile model. The Firm (8) feel is geared toward back and stomach sleepers.
How the mattress performs for a given sleeper depends on its feel in relation to body weight and sleep style.

Side Sleepers
Most side sleepers prefer a fairly soft mattress with ample cushioning. Our testers across all weight groups gained notable pressure relief on the Plush model. The softer comfort foam prevented pressure points from forming around the hips and shoulders without distorting spinal alignment.
The Luxury Firm model also prevented pressure buildup for our side sleepers over 130 pounds. Our testers over 230 pounds had a similar experience on the Firm model, but the surface was a little too rigid for those weighing less.
Back Sleepers
Our testers who prefer back sleeping enjoyed balanced contouring on all firmness options. Responsive comfort foam cushioned the spine and shoulders, while the zoned coil core encouraged even spine alignment. High-density transitional foam kept the hips from sinking too low.
The only caveat is that back sleepers over 230 pounds sank excessively on the Plush model. These sleepers felt more supported on the Luxury Firm and Firm options.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers require a firmer mattress to keep the midsection from dipping too low. Sturdy coils and dense transitional foam minimized deep sinkage for most of our stomach sleepers. Our testers in all weight brackets felt fully supported on the Luxury Firm and Firm models.
The Plush option also kept the hips and shoulders level for stomach sleepers under 130 pounds, but it sagged excessively for those weighing more.
Our Performance Ratings
We evaluate all mattress features using a five-point scale, with five being the highest possible rating.
Pressure Relief
Rating: 4/5 (Plush), 3/5 (Luxury Firm), 3/5 (Firm)
The mattress’ multi-layer comfort system alleviated significant pressure for our testers. The quilted Euro-top adds plushness, even on the firm models. Nolah’s proprietary AirFoamICE material features tiny air bubbles to enhance cushioning. Sturdy transitional foam helps align the spine, while the zoned coil core provides support to the areas that need it most.
The Plush model cradles the body more, which is why we gave it a slightly higher rating than the firmer models.
Temperature Neutrality
Rating: 3/5 (Plush), 4/5 (Luxury Firm), 4/5 (Firm)
Our testers who tend to sleep hot were impressed with the mattress’ temperature control. The surface stays cooler than most, thanks to breathable cotton and thermally conductive fibers. Graphite infusions and open-cell foams are designed to sleep cooler than traditional memory foam. A 2-inch border gusset near the top of the mattress helps heat escape. Pocketed coils promote airflow throughout the bed’s core.
Motion Isolation
Rating: 4/5 (Plush), 3/5 (Luxury Firm), 3/5 (Firm)
The Nolah Evolution Hybrid has thick foam layers that absorb significant motion. The quilted Euro-top is especially effective at dampening surface vibrations. While the coil core adds bounce, the pocketed springs and plant fiber base buffer excess motion transfer.
Those who share a bed with a partner or pet might notice a little more motion transfer on the Luxury Firm and Firm models since they are more responsive.
Edge Support
Rating: 3/5 (Plush), 4/5 (Luxury Firm), 5/5 (Firm)
The perimeter is reinforced with sturdier coils, giving the mattress consistent support from edge to edge. Dense transitional foam minimizes sagging along the edges. As such, sitting or lying near the sides shouldn’t warp the mattress. Strong edge support also makes getting in and out of bed easier for people with mobility concerns.
Durability
Rating: 3/5 (Plush), 3/5 (Luxury Firm), 3/5 (Firm)
With its above-average thickness and quality foams, we expect the mattress to perform optimally for seven to eight years. The strong coil core, along with a reinforced perimeter and foundation, minimize sagging and indentations. Bear in mind that a mattress’ lifespan also depends on body weight, sharing a bed, and other use and care factors.
Ease of Movement
Rating: 3/5 (Plush), 4/5 (Luxury Firm), 4/5 (Firm)
The mattress has notable bounce, so changing positions should be fairly easy. While the Euro-top does allow some sinkage, the polyfoam comfort layers aren’t as conforming as typical memory foam. Dense transitional foam prevents the sinking feeling that can inhibit movement.
We found movement to be easiest on the Firm and Luxury Firm models since the Plush feel has a deeper body-hug.
Sex
Rating: 3/5 (Plush), 4/5 (Luxury Firm), 4/5 (Firm)
A good mix of cushioning and bounce should satisfy most couples during sex. Responsive comfort layers ease pressure points while still providing traction. The pocketed coil core makes transitioning between positions easier without creating much motion transfer. Solid edge support gives couples more room for amorous play. Various cooling features minimize excess body heat.
Off-Gassing
Rating: 3/5 (Plush), 3/5 (Luxury Firm), 3/5 (Firm)
Foam contains volatile organic compounds (VOCs), tiny particles that sometimes release off-gassing odors. The Nolah Evolution has moderate off-gassing when new, given its high foam content. Odors should disappear though within a day or two of installing the mattress.
Nolah uses CertiPUR-US certified foams, so they’ve been tested to meet safety standards for indoor VOC emissions.
What Is the Nolah Evolution Hybrid Mattress Made Of?
The Nolah Evolution Hybrid features a quilted Euro-top with polyfoam padding. The organic cotton cover includes ArcticTex fibers designed to draw out excess heat. The foam padding is also breathable and quilted with thermal conductivity in mind to help the surface stay cool. A 2-inch gusset around the Euro-top increases airflow.
The upper comfort layer is 2 inches of proprietary AirFoamICE. The graphite-infused polyfoam is engineered to relieve pressure without trapping heat. Below is a 2-inch layer of high-density polyfoam that buffers sleepers from the 8-inch coil core. The pocketed coils are arranged in three zones for extra back support. Sturdier coils line the perimeter to boost edge support. A layer of recycled plant fiber stabilizes the entire mattress.
At 15 inches tall, the mattress requires extra-deep pocketed sheets in most instances. A durable fabric border has handles to make carrying and flipping the mattress easier. CertiPUR-US certification indicates that the foam is free of harmful substances like heavy metals and formaldehyde.

How Much Does the Nolah Evolution Hybrid Mattress Cost?
As a luxury design, the Nolah Evolution is more expensive than the typical hybrid. At the same time, it uses premium foams and is much thicker than the standard mattress. Innovative cooling features and solid performance ratings may justify the investment for some shoppers.

Nolah Evolution Hybrid Mattress FAQ
The mattress’ springy feel makes adjusting positions easier for combination sleepers. Responsive polyfoam and a bouncy coil core prevent deep sinkage, so combination sleepers shouldn’t feel stuck inside the mattress.
When it comes to co-sleeping, we thought the Luxury Firm and Firm models outperformed the Plush option. They’re more responsive, which couples tend to appreciate during sex. They also have stronger edge support and temperature control compared to the Plush model. That said, the best firmness option for you and your partner depends on your body types and sleep styles.
Because the Nolah Evolution is 15 inches thick, most standard sheet sets will be too snug. Mattresses that are 15 inches and taller typically require sheets with deep pockets.
Every Nolah mattress is made in the U.S.
